Rogerian Argument/Infographic
Are you a tourist or a traveler?
Do you:
- Visit the usual tourist traps or venture off the beaten path?
- Eat as familiar foods as possible or seek out unique local delicacies?
- Stay at a reliable brand-name hotel or at an international hostel?
- Hope to return with trinkets and mementos or new experiences?
For this assignment, you will explore the “traveler versus tourist” debate via a Rogerian Argument/Infographic hybrid. All six components of a traditional Rogerian Argument—overview of the issue, summary of opposing view, statement of understanding, stating your position, statement of contexts, and common ground solution—should be illustrated in one of three areas on an infographic: pro, con, and solution. Aim for some variation of THIS configuration. Also, find samples HERE and HERE.
Infographics may be created using any program you prefer, including PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva, and Adobe Express. Additionally, you may utilize AI in the creation of your design of your infographic—however, the content of must be entirely yours. In addition to Josh Gates' Destination Truth: Memoirs of a Monster Hunter (which provides a robust argument for being a traveler), you may draw from any the following articles (available in the eReader) to round out both positions:
